5/28/12 - On my way to the ACHA Conference to represent the UCLA grad student body. I’ve been given a $71 per day food budget that does not carry over, incentivizing me to make sure I use all of it.

Next time someone asks why our school tuition is so ridiculous, I’ll be able to give them an answer. It’s the staff reimbursements.

5/27/12 - Getting distracted by marimbas and kids dancing while picking up coffee for Mike and I at the farmer’s market. Followed by getting distracted by a French bulldog whose tongue was stuck between it’s teeth.

I’m easily distracted, apparently.

5/26/12 - Mike makes breakfast.

5/25/12 - While clearing out some of the lists in my notes sections of my phone, I came across my list of things I planned to do when I went to San Diego this weekend. Of course, this was put together prior to my getting the plague and deciding that it was probably against my best interests to go to SD and affect all my friends with pink eye this weekend.

On top of that, I have a ton of work coming into view that needs to be finished within the next 2 weeks as finals hits. Thinking of how I am giving up my list of absolute fun in favor of sitting at my desk and trying to figure out what the hell our policy analysis professor wants from us on the analysis for this week is really depressing.

I’m in a funk right now. Maybe I’m burnt out. Or maybe I’m not getting enough exercise because of this stupid illness. Whatever it is, I really want to get over it.

5/24/12 - Getting medical advice from dad via text message. Apparently I’ve gone from strep to bad cold to conjunctivitis in both eyes. Amazing.

5/23/12 - Yes.  I am making the executive decision to use crayons on my Health Services Quality midterm instead of buying a new print cartridge to color in the swim lanes of my process map.  I better get a gold star for this one.
On a separate note, I was hired for a GSR position at UCLA next year!!!  I am so excited!!!  I’ll be working on quality improvement programs at the Ashe Center with the staff, helping to implement the new dashboard reporting system, and doing some work on patient satisfaction analysis.  And the best part?  I get my all of my tuition, student fees, and insurance paid for!  Hooray!!!

5/22/12 - I’ve been sick for almost 2 weeks now. This really needs to go away. I hate being sick.

5/20/12 - I had not one, but TWO friends from San Diego come visit me today!  Ran the Santa Monica Classic this morning, finish my midterm, got brunch with Alana, Venice Beach Art Walk and Thai Food with Erika, and now…Nyquil and an early bed time seems like a great plan for the rest of the night.

I miss my friends.  And I miss San Diego.
